Hinges & Clasps for Boxes & Lockets

Intermediate Level Class,
9:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Friday thru Tuesday, August 1th thru August 5th, 2014

Students will learn to make flat hinges that can then be adapted to work on lockets and small scale boxes. Soldering and cold connectiond will be integrated into a keepsake locket or box made during classes. Roll-printing metal for texture and design will be included during this class. Students will also learn the use of a Disk cutter and Matrix dies with the Hydraulic press to explore the different shapes and forms readily available for boxes and lockets. Short cuts and tips to make locket cases more quickly will be shared. During this extensive 4-day workshop students will make swivel lockets and hinge lockets. Copper and brass will be provided, students must bring their own silver to use if desired.

Etching Without Acid

One day Beginning Level Class, For Passing the Torch Teachers
2:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Saturday, Saturday March 22nd

In this ONE-DAY workshop scheduled for Passing the Torch participant Teachers. Teachers will learn this student safe way to etch copper, brass, and nickel in your school's studio. Discover the simple application tricks for PnP (Press and Peal) Blue paper resist. Teachers will learn how to have students will use their own old cell-phone charger to recycle for use in this class. No Kits will be provided for attendees to take home. Lesson Plan for project is provided.

Beginning to Intermedate Jewelry Making/Metalsmithing

Beginning and Intermediate Level Class,
5:30 PM to 9:00 PM on Wednesdays, April 16th to June 4th, 2014

In this skill building class at Edmonds Community College participants will master basic rivet and tabs, making prongs for setting. Participants will then apply those techniques to make jewelry of there own design. Circle cutter, hydraulic press, dividers, brass slide gauge, and hammers will be demonstrated. Flex shaft and bur use will be stressed for safety and speed. Beginning jewelry level students are welcome and intermediate skill level students will be offered skill advancing projects. Enthusiasm is a prerequisite.
